Stephane Wrembel Presents Django á Gogo Music Festival & Guitar Camp May 12-16 | Maplewood, NJ, & New York City
Virtuoso Jazz Guitarist gears up for 23rd Anniversary of Django A Gogo Festival and Guitar Camp in NY/NJ from May 12-17th. Two nights at Woodland Theatre in Maplewood, NJ, and two nights at Symphony Space.
Celebrating the vinyl release of Django New Orleans II: Hors Série and the U.S. debut of Gypsy Guitars II
Maplewood, NJ— Guitarist, composer, and musical director Stéphane Wrembel presents the 2026 Django à Gogo Music Festival & Guitar Camp, May 12–16, honoring the enduring legacy of Django Reinhardt. The festival features four concerts—two at The Woodland and two at Symphony Space—alongside a five-day immersive guitar camp.
A leading figure in contemporary Django-style guitar, Wrembel has released more than 20 albums since 2003 and is widely known for his original compositions featured in Midnight in Paris (“Bistro Fada”) and Vicky Cristina Barcelona (“Big Brother”). He founded Django à Gogo in 2003, bringing together world-class musicians to celebrate and expand the Sinti jazz tradition through reinterpretation, improvisation, and cross-cultural collaboration.
The 2026 festival coincides with the vinyl release of Wrembel’s Django New Orleans II: Hors Série, originally released in November 2025 to critical acclaim. DownBeat Magazine called it “an inspired sequel…with just the right amount of tasteful, funky NOLA spirit and technical Sinti jazz guitar flash.” Goldmine said, “Upped the ante on his Gypsy Jazz release, taking it to joyous new Louisiana heights.” The project features Wrembel’s nine-piece ensemble blending New Orleans brass and rhythms with Gypsy jazz.
Also featured is the U.S. debut of Gypsy Guitars II by the Gypsy Guitar Trio, led by Angelo Debarre with Serge Camps (guitar) and Frank Anastasio (bass). The original 1989 Gypsy Guitars album was a landmark recording that helped spark the global revival of Django Reinhardt’s music; its long-awaited follow-up marks a major moment for the genre.
Additional guests include Jean-Michel Pilc (piano), French guitarists Sébastien Felix, Gismo Graf, David Gastine (guitar), Ari Folman-Cohen (bass), Nick Anderson and Scott Kettner (drums), David Langlois (percussion), Adrien Chevalier (violin), Joe Boga (trumpet), Nick Driscoll (clarinet and saxophone), Steven Duffy (sousaphone) and Sarah King (vocals).
