CENTRE-FUGE PUBLIC ART PROJECT

I stumbled upon this art find yesterday on a glorious Sunny day sitting on a park bench by the swings waiting for my sister.

A couple artists were spray painting and filling in some pieces on the 3rd installation of art on the rotating outdoor gallery that lives on 1st st and 1st Ave  in the E.Vill.

I was mesmerized by this gorgeous piece of the Beastie Boys by Danielle Mastrion.    The installation is up from May 10 – July 12th so definitely go check it out and support this cause called Centre-Fuge Public Art Project.

Danielle works as a painter, illustrator, graphic designer and photographer.   For the past 4 years, Danielle has made live art central to her process.    Recently, Danielle won Art Battles’ “Battle for Poland”, and will travel to Poland this Spring representing the U.S.

Other artists in this cycle are:  Michael DeNicola, Jade Fusco, Fumero, Cram Concepts and Bishop 203.

My sister ended up joining me in the park and then we ended up drinking mint frozen lemonades.  Delish!

OUR BUDDHIST BEASTIE GONE: Now Truly AWAKENED....

OUR BUDDHIST BEASTIE GONE: Now Truly AWAKENED….

May 5, 2012  |  Commentary, Hip Hop, Music, NEWS  |  1 Comment

The World is mourning over one of our greatest entertainers.  Rapper, Musician, Filmmaker, Activist, Educator, Humanitarian Adam Yauch aka MCA aka Nathaniel Hornblower of the pioneering Hip Hop group the Beastie Boys.

MCA died yesterday, May 4th at just 47 years old from a 3 year battle with Cancer.

I was stunned by the news along with everyone else which made it almost impossible to work.

I’m not sure what else I can say that hasn’t already been said.   I was a fan when ‘Licensed to Ill’ came out.   The metal guitar riffs/punk energy and hip hop sensibilities sucked me in.  Incidentally always thought Rick Rubin a genius and hands down that album title is one of the best of all time…

By the time ‘Paul’s Boutique’ and ‘Check Your Head’ dropped I was a DJ on college/commercial radio in Atlanta and of course went nuts.  The fact these boys were Jewish only helped my cause after telling my parents I wanted to represent Rappers and had fallen in love with Hip Hop Culture. Read More
